Somers Brings It On!

March 16th, 2006, 12:07 pm by Sharon

Scott Somers wins in District 6 for Mesa City Council !! It was important to me to know that Scott believes in an accountable government, fiscal responsibility, economic development, public safety, and values seniors in our community recognizing their contributions. He will make a difference….bring it on Scott! What a victory for Mesa and the residents in this east Mesa community. I was fortunate to get to know Scott Somers through the Mesa Chamber Leadership, Training and Development Program, graduating with him in 2005. Scott was clearly the favorite as we stood at the polls talking to voters about the needs of District 6 at my location at Sunland Village East. Scott spoke to voters throughout the day about his priorities which include protecting Williams Gateway and the potential of economic development and jobs it will bring, which will affect all of Mesa for the good. As a Phoenix Firefighter and Paramedic, a member of the Urban Search and Rescue Team, he of course, brings vast knowledge and skills on public safety. We can count on a strong commitment to provide quality police, fire, and emergency services. A Veteran, a leader in the community with lifetime community service, and his education including a Doctorate in Public Administration in December 2006, with concentrations in Urban Policy and Inter Organizational Relations, make Scott a valuable member of the Mesa City Council team.Scott is a refreshing voice we can have confidence in as he represents District 6 and becomes a part of the fabric in weaving a new vibrant future for Mesa. It was a wonderful, positive experience campaigning with Scott toward a final victory as I got to know him better, his family, and colleagues that helped put a man in office that will bring about a friendly atmosphere on the City of Mesa Council.
