The best big cities to live in exceeding 300,000 in population is named by MONEY magazine - Mesa is ranked number 3.On the front page of the East Valley Tribune - Mesa is highlighted as the number 3 best place to live in 2006. Why you may ask? Common attributes for all were clear skies, plenty of recreation, and rising home values. Mesa was favored as a relatively affordable place to live.Mesa’s perception outside it’s own community is great as shown here, just as many who live in Mesa think. For those that don’t look at the city favorably might find it helpful to stand back and look through the eyes of another. Not to leave out the neighbors, the overall best place to live brought Scottsdale in at number 7 and Gilbert in at 16. Mesa fell to number 93 in the overall group.Vice Mayor Claudia Walters, City of Mesa says she has tried to emphasize the positive aspects of Mesa - I think she’s done a great job.Mayor Steve Berman, City of Gilbert says "It’s a trmendous honor," and wants to surpass Scottsdale.Rick Kidder, President, Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce says "I’m just amazed there are six communities ahead of us", and that obviously Scottsdale belongs on the list.At any rate, the southeast Valley has made it’s debut in Money magazine and that’s good for all of us.
