It’s time to learn about emergency preparedness….and join in on the responsibility: prepare beforehand - what will it take for you to be prepared?An Emergency Preparedness Day is planned for Saturday, September 9 in the parking lot of the Red Mountain Target store at Power Road and McKellips - 8AM to 11AM.The Mesa Police Department has partnered with Mesa Fire to host the event along with participants Mesa Utilities, Banner Baywood, AARP, FBI, and other federal, state, and local agencies; ensuring we have the opportunity to be prepared. It is National Emergency Preparedness Month - get involved, learn what you can do, make this a priority.Mesa Chief of Police George Gascon believes emergency preparedness is critical to our safety by learning simple steps we can each take toward protecting our family, neighborhood, community, and nation.September 11, 2001 is a reminder that emergencies happen; we have witnessed reacurring natural disasters - alerting us to be prepared - for terrorists, natural disasters, having on hand items we need for family, pets, a plan of action - day care, schools, workplace - armed with knowledge of what to do.Lindy Marino, Mesa Police Deparment Crime Prevention Unit is overseeing the event.
