For those of you concerned about the happenings at Riverview Park, there will be a public meeting tonight at Westwood High School at 7:00 pm. Westwood High School is located on the corner of 8th & Westwood Streets (between Country Club and Alma School north of University)I expect there will be a lot of people there with some very interesting opinions. This subject of selling ball fields to a developer goes far beyond just being a real estate transaction. Many citizens view this as a credabilty issue. I also feel there a great stake involved in what the city ultimately decides. In my view, if the city can sell this property, what about other properties. The city has been thinking of changing the name of Williams Gateway Airport to another name for better recognition and better chance for business development, then what about other properties.If the city ignores past promises made to its citizens, then the city can expect further mistrust and suffer more misgivings. I still have faith the city will make the right choices but its up to us citizens to remind the city council and staff of their responsibilties.
