The city council meeting on Monday had its usual agenda of items and all went pretty smoothly. That is, until the meeting was adjourned. Then Mr. Ready spoke up.Ready, disappointed at not being allowed to speak during the council meeting, yelled out his displeasure and called the city council unjust. Apparently, Ready failed to fill out a blue comment card in time and was not allowed to speak at the podium.Later, outside the council chambers, he spoke to news reporters about how the city and police department are calling him a terrorist and of taking his car away.Ready, who ran for a city council seat last year, has been very vocal about immigration and is also suspected of being associated with neo-nazi groups.

My family and I moved to Mesa 1 month ago. We are excited to be part of a new community, however, we have some concerns. Our A/C went out on Sunday. No technician can come until Thursday. We went to a Mesa hotel. The air conditioner made cold air, but didn’t blow it out. There was no running water until very late in the evening. Last night we went to a Village Inn for dinner. We were seated, then waited 15 minutes until the hostess came and took our drink order. She never returned. The restaurant began to fill up. After over 1/2 hour of waiting, a waitress came out from the kitchen, went to the table of the most recently seated, and asked to take their order. We left and went to Denny’s. At Denny’s, we were waiting so long for our food that the waitress offered us complimentary salad and soup. I gratefully accepted the salad, and shortly afterward, my husband’s sandwich arrived with 1/2 of the french fries missing. We didn’t ask. About the time my husband finished his meal, my plate of pasta arrived. I began to eat and in my first bite realized all the vegetables in the pasta dish were frozen rock solid. We paid our bill and went on our way. We are not complainers. We expect at least average service and don’t expect to have to demand it forcibly. Are we out of step with the culture of Mesa? Would any long time Mesa resident share with me how you work around the service crisis that clearly exists here? We love our new home, and we want to be solid citizens, but we are not acustomed to this kind of service.
Sorry to hear about the poor service you received. Unfortuneately because of the time of year, I can see the problems you might have about getting someone out to repair your AC. As for the poor restuarant service, that’s really a shame. I enjoy eating at the Landmark restaurant which is located on the corner of Extension and Main Street and the Big Apple Restaurant located on Main Street between Horne and Stapley. The Cracker Barrell which just opened up at Riverview (North Dobson Road and the 202) is good also. Chik-A Fillet which also opened up there is really fast on service if you don’t mind fast food.
Hope this helps you out.
